HANDBUILDING WITH RAJ

THURSDAY 6-9PM SEPT 17th, 24th, OCT. 1st +8th

Join Raj for a four-week exploratory handbuilding pottery course at our Barton location, designed to encourage creativity, experimentation, and a little bit of play. This hands-on ceramics class invites you to slow down, work intuitively with clay, and discover what you can create without needing to follow a predetermined project.

Through a combination of guided instruction and open-ended making, you’ll explore essential handbuilding techniques including slab building, pinching, coiling, shaping, joining, and surface development. Raj encourages students to experiment with form and texture while developing the skills and confidence to make pieces that feel personal and meaningful.

Whether you’re new to pottery or looking to expand your existing ceramic practice, this four-week pottery class offers a supportive studio environment where there is room to try something new, make mistakes, change direction, and see where the material takes you. Create functional pottery, sculptural forms, or something in between—there’s no single way to work with clay.

Perfect for anyone looking for pottery classes in Toronto, a creative four-week course, or a chance to explore handbuilding in a welcoming studio setting, this class is about learning through making and creating something of value with your own hands.

THROWING FOCUS WITH NOËL YARDLEY

SATURDAY 10-1pm SEPT. 19th, 26th, OCT. 3rd+10th

Join master potter Noel Yardley for four weeks of focused wheel-throwing practice designed to help you build confidence, control, and consistency at the potter’s wheel. This is a class for throwing.

Each session gives you the opportunity to throw, throw again, and throw some more. You’ll work through the fundamentals of centering, opening, pulling, shaping, trimming, and developing forms, with individual guidance and demonstrations from Noel throughout the course. Repetition is at the heart of the class: the more you throw, the more intuitive the process becomes.

Rather than working toward a specific project, the focus is on developing your technique through practice. Experiment with different forms, push your skills, identify what’s not working, and try again. Whether you’re building a foundation on the wheel or looking to refine your throwing skills, this intensive four-week Toronto pottery class at our BARTON LOCATION.

Come ready to work, get your hands dirty, and throw.

Ceramic Glaze Workshop

A hands-on deep dive into glaze theory, formulation, testing, and experimentation.

Over two sessions, explore the chemistry and creative possibilities of ceramic glazes through a combination of theory and hands-on lab work. Working individually and in groups, you’ll formulate and test four base glazes: a stable high-gloss clear, a stable matte clear, a crackling/crazing glaze, and a crawling or “molten island” glaze.

You’ll also experiment with colourants, learn practical strategies for glaze testing and iteration, and develop effective methods for recording and evaluating your results. The workshop concludes with a review of the group’s test results and discoveries.

The workshop is limited to 10 students and will be led jointly by Noël Yardley and Evan.
